Saving money on clothes :)

I am very, I'm not sure how to put this. Frugal? Thrifty? Cheap? However you like to look at it, I do not like to spend that much money on things. I have to say that one of my favorite places to go clothes shopping is Goodwill. Not only do I not like to spend a lot of money, but I really love old things, especially old books. and with Goodwill I do really like looking at the clothes, but I think one of my favorite things I have ever gotten from Goodwill was this children's picture dictionary from 1939 for $3. I don't know what it is, but I absolutely love old books.

Anywho, let's get back on topic here. Thrift shops are absolutely amazing. There are so many great finds to be found. (Does that make sense?) And the clothes are generally so inexpensive. Yes, there are many, many very strange things you will find. And a lot of clothes that you will question if that type of style was ever in. But if you take the time to go through the clothes, you will find some good pieces in there. I'd have to say that my favorite piece in my closet right now is probably a gray cardigan that I found at Goodwill. I wear it probably around once a week. It goes with almost everything in my closet, and I absolutely love it. And guess how much it was?

$2.83. Yup. Less than $3. Goodwill is already so inexpensive, but they have all these discounts that they give out too. I have a Club Goodwill card and when my purchase goes over $20, I get a discount of I think 5%. I'm not sure about the percent, but I know you get a discount. :)

Most of the clothes aren't in bad condition either. Yes, you probably go to Goodwill for your Halloween costume, or an ugly sweater party. But I would definitely recommend going and checking out their clothes. I've even seen Ugg boots at my local Goodwill. Maybe make a whole day out of thrift store shopping. That's what I've been wanting to do. I haven't really been to any local thrift shops, but I've told my sister that one day we should go out and visit every thrift store in town. Hey, who knows? You might even find a new favorite place to go clothes shopping!

First purchase from Modcloth!!!

Let me start off with saying Happy New Year everyone! This year has gone by so fast and I cannot believe that it is almost 2012. I hope you all have had a great year, and that next year will be even better!

For the past month or two I have really gotten into browsing Modcloth.com. I think almost everything on there is absolutely adorable, but the website is pretty pricey. So I have really just been stalking the sale page, but specifically the dress section. I love dresses, but I don't have any. And I have been wanting to get some for quite some time now. But for the holidays, Modcloth had a 25% off coupon code for items in the sale section, and I was pretty excited when I learned of this, to say the least. There were a few dresses that I had my eye on for around $30 or less, and the website has free shipping, plus there was the 25% off coupon.

The thing is, I don't really have a means to buy online, because I'm only 15 and don't have a credit card or anything, obviously. So I tried to talk my parents into buying this dress for me, but my mom was talking to my Grandma and brought up the fact that I wanted the dress. So, my Grandma bought it for me as a birthday present. Granted, my birthday is not until May, so I am still pretty much dress-less, but we ordered it Tuesday, and I guess it came yesterday. And this was the free shipping option, too. I went over today because I wanted to try it on to make sure it fits, because this was the first time I had ever purchased anything from their site and I didn't want to wait five months only to find out that it didn't fit.

I purchased the En Garden Dress, which was originally $47.99 and was on sale for $33.99. With the 25% off, my total came to $25.49, and shipping was free, too. Now, I don't know if this is for first time customers, or if Modcloth does this for every purchase, but they sent me a flower hair clip, too. :)

I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but Modcloth definitely delivered way over my expectations. The dress fits perfectly, because there is a string to tighten the dress, and the straps are adjustable. And it is really soft too. I cannot wait for my birthday so I can start wearing this dress. I definitely hope to make more purchases from Modcloth in the future, but because of the pricing, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to do that.

Have any of you made any purchases from Modcloth? What are your thoughts on them? Thanks!

Scarves. They are the perfect accessory that can easily dress down an outfit, be the finishing touch, or make the entire outfit. They go with practically any outfit and can be worn any season of the year. If you're ever in doubt of what to get at the mall, search for some scarves. Scarves are so cute and are definitely a huge trend right now. And there are so many ways to wear a scarf. They are so versatile; they are definitely worth checking out.

What do you guys think of scarves? I'd love to have way more than I currently have. Today's question is: What is your favorite way to wear a scarf? With a dress to dress it down? With a plain tee?

Don't put a limit on anything. The more you dream the farther you get.

Hey guys! I felt like I needed to make a post with pictures in it because I have yet to do that. So I figured I'd make a little compilation (is that a word? I think so...) of clothes that I find adorable and would love to get, but I know that it won't happen. But, hey, one can dream, right?

I love browsing through modcloth's clothes, but I tend to buy in store a lot more than online. I haven't really gotten anything from an online store in a while. But one day I would love to buy a dress from modcloth. :) I really love the vintagey look that's in style right now and that's exactly what modcloth sells. I was just browsing through their website and I absolutely love these dresses. I think the second one, the light blue one, has to be my favorite.

I decided to put a quote with this post. The quote is my title, but here it is again: "Don't put a limit on anything. The more you dream the farther you get." - Michael Phelps. I absolutely love quotes. I don't really know what it is, but I love going through quotes. They can be so inspiring. But I found this quote, and I know you guys don't really know this about me yet, but I definitely dream big. I always have so many different ideas and I'm always thinking about the future and planning out stuff and just kind of dreaming. And I think this quote really relates to anything. It can relate to me dreaming about getting these dresses, or dreaming about what I will become when I grow up.

So, I am curious, do you guys out there have your eye on anything that you want to buy? It could be something that you are buying, or just wish you could buy. But please attach a link to something you want to get if you have a link or a picture or anything.

And thank you so much for anyone that even stops by and checks out my blog. I think at this point no one has read a thing that I have written, but I really hope this blog will allow some of us to connect, not to sound creepy or stalkerish or anything, but hopefully we all will learn something new and maybe we can all make a new friend. Your support means the world to me. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to make a quick post to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving! Anyone doing anything exciting today? My question today is: what are you all most thankful for? I personally can't answer this because I am so thankful for everything I have. I know there are countless people out there that don't even have a home and I think my goal for 2012 is to take less advantage of what I have and hopefully help others more. What are you all thankful for? Have any of you started to think about New Year Resolutions?

Fashionable celebs?

I was thinking. My two favorite abc family shows are coming back in January: Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game. Not only are these shows extremely addictive with all the drama and everything, but the fashion keeps you watching. Whenever a new scene comes on or someone is wearing a new outfit, I cannot help but check out the outfit. I absolutely love Hannah Marin's clothing on Pretty Little Liars. She always has the cutest dresses and outfits. And her hair is always gorgeous. I love the other girls' styles, too, but there are many times that I look at an outfit and couldn't imagine me wearing that. But I always dream of wearing outfits like Hannah. The other three always rock their outfits though. :)

And in The Lying Game, I love Laurel's dresses. She almost always has on a dress and they are so cute. Its no wonder Justin loves her so much. :) Outfits other characters wear in the show are generally a hit or miss for me. Half the time I'm not a fan of the other girls' outfits, but I don't know if I've ever seen Laurel wear something that I haven't loved.

And of course, last but not least, I love Selena Gomez. Not only in the fashion category, but she seems like such an amazing person. But I will admit, I love watching Wizards of Waverly Place. Mostly its for Selena (and Mason) but I love watching her outfits too. I think I'll make a post soon of outfits inspired by my favorite celebs, but tell me, which celebs inspire you (Fashion wise)? Are there any celebs that you wished you own every piece of clothing in their closet?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I absolutely love this time of the year! Christmas songs, hot chocolate, holiday cheer. It all just overpowers you and you can't help but get into the holiday spirit.

I've recently become obsessed with a new youtube guru. I will admit I have been checking youtube wayyyy too often hoping she has a new video posted. But one of her outfit videos that I watched made me realize that you can get into the holiday spirit with your clothing, too. I don't know if I've ever thought about this before at all, but this has really gotten into my head lately and I can't stop thinking about it. And its not as if you have to wear Christmas sweaters to look festive. If you take advantage of the holiday colors, then you can look really festive. My friend had a really cute red sweater on over a dress the other day. It wasn't meant for the holidays because this was back on Veterans day when we were supposed to look patriotic. But I can't help but think of that as I write this post. On the outfits video the guru had a white cardigan on in one of her outfits. This wasn't a holiday video, but this outfit keeps popping into my mind for a holiday outfit. I think that you can get certain pieces in the holiday colors of white, red, and maybe some green, and match them up to create cute holiday outfits. But they can still be separated and these pieces can be used on a normal basis.

This past Sunday I was at the mall with my dad. But we only went there for a certain shoe store, so I didn't get to do any clothes shopping. I didn't get the boots that I went there for either because they didn't have it in my size, but that's beside the point. Walking through the mall, I was looking at all the stores' display cases (display windows? I don't know, neither one of them sound right. Haha, are neither of them right?) and I kept noticing all these mannequins in cardigans and scarves and all these pieces in red and white. And this past week with all these things combined I can't stop thinking about creating holiday looks. And I need some new winter clothing. So I'm hoping to go to the mall on Friday with my sister and my goal is to get some pieces that can be worn on any day, but could also be paired with some other pieces to create a festive look. Right now I can't get this image of a long sleeved white cardigan out of my head, but other than that I have no specific piece I am really looking for. I just want some colorful pieces that can be paired together for the perfect Christmas look. Actually, a red scarf would be really cute, too.

So, my question to you guys is: what is your essential piece for this time of the year? It can be for fall or winter, or both, but what one piece in your closet is your go-to for this time of the year? What do you think is necessary for every other girl to own around now? It could be a clothing item or a pair of shoes. Or it could be something that you're dying to get.

Thanks so much everyone and happy holidays!
~Elizabeth

Welcome to my blog!

Hey guys! I want to make this a short paragraph, but I might as well get this out of the way now: I tend to greatly overwrite. I want this to be a shorter paragraph, but you'll come to learn that when I write short paragraphs, they aren't normally that short. :)
I called this blog My Fashion Diary because I really just want this blog to be like a diary. It will surround beauty and fashion. But with beauty I will do more of things like quotes sometimes, maybe food recipes, and things like nail polish reviews and stuff like that. And with fashion I'll do a bunch of stuff. But I'll write about the latest trends, wishlists, or just anything about fashion really.
But I'm also searching for a bunch of different products. I'm looking for products from the perfect lotion to the perfect shampoo and conditioner. But I'm hoping to blog my progress and when I find a really good product I'll come on here and blog about it. I want this to be an open blog where I can share tips or just anything in general.
Not that this is limited only to teens of course, and I know there are plenty of teen blogs out there, but I couldn't really find any. So, I decided to make my own! I will say now that I am very ... frugal. So hopefully some of these posts will be centered more around saving money and frugal tricks about fashion and beauty.
I really hope that you all will enjoy this blog. Grab some hot chocolate, leave a comment, and scroll through some posts!
